In Italia parlare di caffè lungo è stato per molto tempo un tabù poiché si disprezzava il fatto di “allungare” con troppa acqua il caffè andando ad abbattere il gusto intenso del caffè espresso.
Questa tipologia di caffè è invece sempre stata molto diffusa nel mondo, specialmente negli U.S.A., ed è forse anche grazie a film e serie TV d’oltre oceano che hanno sdoganato questa usanza che anche gli italiani ora stanno rivalutando quest’usanza apprezzandone il sapore.
Ma come si prepara un buon caffè lungo?
La preparazione classica, praticata nei paesi Europei dove vi è maggior diffusione come Germania, Francia, Austria e Inghilterra così come negli Stati Uniti, prevede l’utilizzo di un apposito termos dotato di infusore nel quale viene inserita una miscela leggermente diversa da quella per la moka o per il caffè espresso, risultando infatti più grossolana e con sapore più delicato.
Una curiosità: il caffè lungo, con l’aggiunta di spezie, è anche usato come bevanda per accompagnare i pasti al posto di acqua o altre bevande soprattutto in alcuni paesi del nord Africa e in Asia.
